Dushyant Singh Chautala is the youngest Indian to ever become a Member of Parliament. Contesting on an Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) ticket, he defeated Kuldeep Bishnoi by 31,847 votes in the 16th Lok Sabha elections to become a member of parliament from the Hisar constituency.
Dushyant was born in Prem Nagar of Hisar District, Haryana on April 3, 1988. His father is Dr. Ajay Chautala (Secretary General, INLD) and mother Smt. Naina Singh. Ch. Om Prakash Chautala (former Chief Minister of Haryana and President, INLD) is his grandfather and Jan Nayak Ch. Devi Lal (former Deputy Prime Minister of India) is his great grandfather.
His younger brother is Digvijay Singh Chautala (National President, INSO).
He started his schooling from St. Mary’s School, Hisar but he passed Senior Secondary from The Lawrence School, Sanawar, Himachal Pradesh. After passing out of school, he went abroad for higher studies. He enrolled at the California State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
He has a keen interest in sports. He was a boxing gold medalist at The Lawrence School, Sanawar. He was also named captain of the school basketball team and goalkeeper of the school hockey team.
When he was eight years old, he was sent to Rohtak, Haryana with his great grandfather Ch. Devi Lal to talk about the party’s election propaganda. Dushyant not only tagged along but also went door-to-door publicising party policies for fifteen straight days.
In 2009, after his father Dr. Ajay Chautala was elected a Lok Sabha member from Bhiwani Mahendragarh, Haryana, Dushyant took over the command of Mahendragarh, Dabwali and Uchana. INLD candidates won from all three.
Since January 16, 2013, Chautala has been an active politician in the state of Haryana. He once called for and held youth conferences all over the state. Right after these, he became some sort of a youth icon. At Sri Chhotu Ram Stadium in Rohtak, he even helped INSO (Indian National Student Organisation) make a Guinness World Record for most organ donations (10450 eye donations in eight hours) on December 1, 2013. He should also be credited for the social media publicity of Indian National Lok Dal through party pages on Facebook.
Dushyant Singh Chautala also bought our attention to the HCS recruitment scams. It soon became a subject of widespread discussion in the state. Nearly eighteen lakh young men and women rallied against the recruitment and submitted petitions to the Governor of Haryana. He also helped expose the thermal power plant scam, the power purchases scam, the pillar box scam and the transformer scam. His honesty and curiosity bought corruption to the fore and seeked to prevent it.
